The Punk and the Godfather’ is a song from Quadrophenia in which Jimmy the Mod goes to see his favourite rock band (The Who) and ends up disappointed that his musical heroes have let him down and they are really no different to himself. The godfather in this painting is Pete, seen here as a green, shamanic creature with a sword on his belt and stars in his hair. Note the white horse at top right symbolising Meher Baba.
