MEET THE ARTIST: With over 13 years experience as an illustrator and graphic designer, JONAS SANTOS also works as an art director creating visual identities for brands, shows, TV programs and merchandising.  Some of the artists Jonas has worked with include: Kiss, Motley Crue, Def Leppard, Greta Van Fleet, Queens of the Stone Age, Sum 41, Sepultura, Slipknot, Blink-182, and many others...

MEANING BEHIND THE DESIGN: In the mid-seventies, The Who became one of the main touring bands in the US, playing sold-out shows at stadiums, open-air festivals and concerts, venues all over the country, so what I thought I'd better bet on here is the characteristic elements of each country in a combination where the two cultures could blend, look like one, because at that time, even in a generation with big names in music playing, they stood out and looked like they were at home, even miles and miles away from their country.

We can see the eagle, a symbol of the US, which is a majestic, strong and long-lived bird, symbolizing the search for new paths and the determination to reach great heights (representing the band's endeavour to conquer new territory with their art). In the illustration I created, the eagle is wearing a Bearskin, which is the hat of the British Royal Guard, and which symbolizes triumph (triumph that we know to this day, as the band still fills stadiums, festivals and any other concert around the world). This combination has as its background a design that represents a postage stamp, symbolizing, in addition to everything I've already said, this journey to new lands, new conquests and placing a target, an eternal mark in the musical history between England and America.
